Curacao is a small Caribbean island that serves as the administrative capital of the Dutch Antilles; Aruba and Bonaire being two sister islands of the Lesser Netherlands Antilles. There are more than 30 land houses, the large and rich occupations of landowners of former plantations, remains from its once Dutch colonization. Many are open to the public, include a small museum, rent out horses and offer history tours. There are plenty of natural attractions such as Sheta Boca National Park with its phenomenal cave Boca Tabla, the flora and fauna of Christoffel National Park, the Hato Plains with the popular Hato Caves and the flocks of flamingoes at the saltpans of Jan Kok. For excellent viewpoints and panoramas you can hike towards Mt Christoffel, follow the track at Sunset Heights or enjoy the long Banda Abao trail.

Westpunt, Santa Martha Bay, San Juan bay and Port Marie offer beautiful bays with white sandy beaches perfect for water activities such as swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. There are plenty of forts (ie. Fort Amsterdam, Fort Riffort and Fort Waterfort) in and surrounding the capital Willemstad. Central Willemstad offers picturesque districts such as Scharloo, Punda and Otrobanda with sights such as its floating markets, a Jewish Synagogue, museums and the famous Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge. Nearby are Jan Thiel Bay, the Curacao Sea Aquarium and the inland lakes Spanish Water (Caracas Bay) and St Jorisbaai. Awi di Oostpunt is a private bay, only reached from sea, offering remote diving with plenty of marine life. At twenty kilometers east of Punt Kanon you can dive the stunning and remote island Klein Curacao, an uninhabited pristine islands known for its excellent beaching, snorkeling and scuba diving.

The complete southern side of Curacao is actually one large coral reef and marine park. First the Banda Abou National Park stretching from North Point to the lighthouse at Cape Saint Marie, the Central Curacao Underwater Park begins in Bullen Bay and goes until Princess Beach and from there to East Point you will be diving inside the Curacau Underwater Park. Curacao offers ample dive sites, from easy shore dives, pristine coral bay dives to sheer drop-offs especially in the southeast.
